 Identity Crisis: Round 1
- 30-40 Lines 3-0KO or First to 5 - Battlers will be anonymous - Votes will be hidden - Due date will be in battle threads. If you reveal who you are to someone and I find out, you are immediately disqualified. If you don't vote and end up winning the tournament, money will be taken off the prize. Voting rules: Votes will be hidden and need to be approved my a moderator. Please vote in the thread, and it will be revealed at the end of the battle. (Don't PM them) Voters must have 250 posts to vote (I think there was a couple shady votes last round) How the anonymous battles will work?? Each member will be given a number. Ex. Battler 1 vs Battler 5. You will be pm'd your number with the link to the appropriate thread as each battle begins to get set up. I will keep track of who is who, so if at anytime you forget, just shoot me a pm. The battler will then pm me his verse, I will post it as battler 1... vs battler 5.. And the voters will vote based on that. At the end of the tournament it will all be revealed as to whom beat who. Round one topic theme: Career Each battler will be given their own career and must create a topical or story based on the life of their character in that respective career. There is a broad base of approaches you can choose from so think outside the box and make the story lines good. For example: if your career was mailman. You can take the approach as the mailman entering throughout the back door and having affairs with peoples wives. Be detailed, put the emotion that a mailman would have in your verse. Be pissed that people park in front of the mailbox and you have to got to the door. All I am saying is, don't be intimated or think you can't come up with something based on the career that you are given. Each career has many different directions you can take, use the stereotypes and myths that you know about your career and mold it into a great topical. Question about the reveals...I'm assuming you will be ok with people revealing who they are once they've been knocked out? Or are you aiming to keep the entire thing a mystery all the way through? I.e. People have no idea who is in/out at any stage, or are you going to reveal who's out and who's in (without saying which battler they were)...I.e. "A/B/C are out, congrats to D/E/F for progressing" -------------

You have to have 250 posts to vote. Also I have a question for those of you that are in the tournament. One of the participants has contacted me and cannot write his verse to do a serious matter that is going on outside of LA. I respect that he told me ahead of time what was going on. However, we now have a definite no show spot. Do you guys want it to be a no show, or would mind me asking a loser from the prelims to take the spot if they could get the verse finished by the due date?? ------------- |

Can you make votes anonymous? Just thinking, hypothetically, that if I go through and vote all the open battles in the tourney except my own then it doesn't take much for someone to figure out which one I am! -------------

There isn't an option to make them anonymous unless I post the votes myself. The only other thing I can do is keep them hidden. But I am pretty sure most of the participants would want to see what the votes were on the battles. Your battles numbers would change each round as well. So if they figure it out in the first round, it won't be the same number in the second. ------------- |

And how it's working right now is the everything posted in the forum has to be approved by the moderators before it can be seen. So all the votes are hidden until the battle is over. When they are approved, it's just like any other post/vote where you can see which member dropped the vote. However, each round your battler number will change. So whatever anybody is now won't be the same for next round.
There is a ton of problems posting it myself. First off the amount of work is crazy because the inbox fills up within two days. Second if someone has a problem with a vote, then I have to go back and try to figure out who's vote it was and I'd be damned if I am saving all the votes on my computer. It's just way out of the way. And I mean you'd think everyone would appreciate the time I have already taken out to do both my moderator work and run this tournament as is. But I guess that isn't enough. ------------- |

I've been around the block but this is so far the most smoothly run tournament I've ever been apart of. A great combination of forethought mixed in with the willingness to consider others opinions in all the decision making, the layout is refreshingly amazing, hidden votes are a new element to battling which completely levels the playing field, opening round topic theme is really interesting. yes all participants that were in prelims to now can vote no matter there post count. I am going to try not to vote myself because obviously, I know who is who. But if the voting is slow what is your guys outlook on me voting?

FYI, Site moderators do not have mod privileges in any tournament on LA, only the host and my self has ever had mod rights. This is no different for this tournament, so only me and Law can see hidden posts and approve them. On a side note, me and Law are the only ones who's posts show up instantly. -------------  |

If you change the battlers numbers every round then it doesn't matter if people know I'm not Battler 1/2/3 or whichever ones I've voted on because it doesn't mean I'm Battler 4 in the next round. -------------
