We welcome your ideas for magazine features...could be interview, weekly roundup, line of the week, anything you can think of.
Please submit your ideas in here and if we like them then we'll give you the go ahead. If members could give feedback to ideas they'd like to see that would be greatly useful.
Thanks

I dunno, the usual highlights thing, top 5 OMs, bar of the month, best writer, etc. Stuff like that may compell peeps to pursue fame and glory right. Veteran spotlights could work if they showed up. A little segment about current events, for instance dropping some thoughts on how to boost activity here. How to welcome new members, what makes a goos battle-verse, etc. Some features about LA's history would be interesting, profiles, first battles, biggest beefs, etc. I think it should just be a light read, no serious so much.

All good thoughts (& thanks for contributing!)...
I guess really I'm primary looking for people to run various slots in the magazine. Either as a one-off or something more regular.
Would you be up for taking any of that on? Any particular segment you think would be particularly interesting or you'd like to do?

I think I can do a little segment about current events and notable quotables\best punchlines, if the people wants it.

just come see me every month lol
but on a serious note. an interview section would be dope. if nobody else wants to take control of that i'll happily put myself forward to do something like that.
the previous ones have all been interesting reads.

I can easily do an "Meet the Artist" article. I had pretty good success with it before. Also thinking about an side article. Maybe something in the realms of what hip hop means to me. Let me know cubes

Can't wait to see the new talent showcased. This mag should have no structure lmaooo. Real shit tho....audio and open mic should set it off. Then go into a smidgen of history.... Then hitem with a dope interview of an unexpected well rounded new l.a. artist. Then.....I could tell you the rest but then I would have to kill you lol. But yeah this'll be a good mag regardless .....

So we have Dizzle working on something. ...wondering if we should get an interview with Nigma / Concrete up as tourney winners. Nigma might be good as he's new to the admin team as well so I'm sure people will want to hear what he's got to say.

How does a small joke column sound could be something funny to entertain the readers

@Concrete...I wouldn't particularly tie yourself to a deadline as I don't intend to have "issues" of the mag. Think of it like we've deconstructed all the content in a magazine and posted it in separate threads. You could either have a weekly/monthly feature or you can have a one-off feature or a feature that comes back every 3 months. Just whenever you can find time!
@Slip...I think we need some light hearted content in there, as long as it's genuinely funny then it's all good

I don't mind doing an article space for interviews with new members. Like for a new member (one that's been active for at least a week so I know that the interview won't be left unattended to) asking various questions like why they joined/what do they feel about their time here so far, personal questions (as in personal based on certain activity they have made like large contributions to the open mic/their first battle etc.,). . Yeah I don't mind doing something like this on a regular-ish basis..

I'm not sure if I could do this (or at least do it alone for obvious reasons) but like a Top 15 Magazine of the year listing and talking about the 15 most memorable moments of L.A. 2015 Edition will be a good idea for a magazine article to close 2015 off/or to open up 2016 I think..

I'm thinking of a new feature...looking for someone to write an article either once a fortnight or once a month. It's a classics revived segment. Idea is you go through the classics section and pick out an old drop and give it a quick review. What you like about it, how it stands the test of time (or not). I'd even be open to the occasional questioning of why it became a classic if you don't think it's good enough (although one of the senior members may be able to shed should light for you)
Segment would be called: BRINGING IT BACK
Anyone interested?
P.S. If there are multiple people interested I'm happy for different people to review different verses. That's not a problem!!

If possible have an occasional extra to it as well. Like if we catch an old head around that would be consider a "classic" member, whomever is writing this section can do an interview, ask him a few questions and choose that specifics person OM/AM/Battle or whatever it may be for the segment.

Another idea...SCHOOL OF RHYMES feature. Could be an interview format or a first person dissection of one component of writing. Idea would be to share the wealth in terms of more experienced writers and give an insight into the process as well as bits of guidance.

been a while since you put this forward, but I've only just seen it and I had a similar idea recently so I think this would be worthwhile. even if the format wasn't exactly as you proposed, just having the vets & more established members [semi-]consistently producing some kind of content that helps others. these could be incorporated into the elevation centre in some way too maybe?

Hit Sammy up man, he's the boss of the Mag now but sure he'll be happy to hear ideas and definitely more than ok if you've got a different spin on it than my idea.
Only thing I'd say about the Elevation Centre is we don't get many people reading that material (as far as I can tell) & even then it's arguable whether the right people are actually reading the content.
I think part of that is making it approachable and using a bit of creativity in the format. Hence why I think the mag is a good space for it...but hey man, if you want to take that way and try it out then go for it! All about the trial and error.

Based on Self's Top 5 thread...
Might be cool if we did like a "focus" type piece / segment on some of the guys nominated as best battlers / topical writers and getting them to talk through how they remember the piece and what they were going for in it...
Might be cool feature.

Have a progression article for new comers, spotlight them, make them feel apart of the forum via their stats,it would also have a knock on effect, and when I say stats,I mean like activity/votes/OMs/witty post, and all the in-between,the benefit would be this, they'd be less likely to troll, they be more active knowing there being recognised and willing to participate in ventures, and we'll get more returns in feed/votes and a cleaner board all round...peace.
