Open Mic: - Resting Gardens -

 

 

Don’t worry about your wife, I promise to take

Great care of her and make her look pretty

For her memorial service, just outside the city

As soon as you leave, I rip her clothes off

And turn on a heat lamp to make her skin soft

Dress her in new linens and pretend we’re out swimming

A day at the beach is just the beginning

Roll her over, puttin lotion on her back and her shoulders

“My dear you seem tense!”  is what I so casually told her

She said nothing back, “I HATE WHEN YOU DO THIS!

YOU GIVE ME THE COLD SHOULDER LIKE YOU’RE SOME KIND OF RUDE BITCH!”

Pull out my knife and show her the weapon,

If she doesn’t speak to me soon, she’s gonna regret it!

“I TOOK YOU TO THE BEACH AND LOOK HOW YOU DO ME,

I JUST WANT SOME RESPECT, QUICK! SOMEBODY SUE ME!”

The tears start to race, as I pleaded my case

She sat there unmoved….not a tear on her face

 “SO YOU THINK I’M NOT MAN ENOUGH, THINK I WON’T STAB YOU?

WHEN I GET DONE,  I PROMISE NO ONE WILL HAVE YOU!” 

I forgot I still held the knife so tight in my hand…

It just happened from passion, my slashing never was planned

I tell you this crudely but know it’s my duty to truly confess

But is it so wrong to express that there’s such beauty in death?

Or is it just the heat lamps so Floridian Sunny

That makes coagulated blood look like obsidian honey?

 

 

That’s all I have to say, so Detective, please feel free to lock me away

If loving someone too much is a crime than I guess I must pay

Detective? Did you hear what I said?

I loved her so deeply, I never wanted her dead..

“SAY SOMETHING! DON’T JUST SIT THERE AND STARE

YOU THINK I DIDN’T LOVE HER? THINK I DIDN’T CARE???   

MY LOVE FOR HER WAS PURE, WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE IT?

I SEE THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE, I CAN SEE YOU’RE DISGUSTED

IF THAT’S HOW YOU FEEL, WHY DON’T YOU JUST SAY IT??”

Pull out my knife, just so he’ll know I’m not playing…

Nice way to start your verse and I liked how you ran all off the first part together!!
The rest was good too, conveyed the story very well to me as the reader. I could see this umfolding as I read to the end.
