LA Magazine: The April LA Alternative Awards

Greetings LA. And welcome to the first alternative monthly awards hosted me, Arthur. In these awards, don’t expect to find me giving props for dope verses or shout outs for great work. There are no badges, there are no prizes and you are not getting any official kind of recognition. In this edition I'm giving out 10 awards for the month of April. These, are the Alternative Awards. Let’s get to it then…

 

Neek (a replacement who doesn’t text battle) defeating 3 participants in the Battle Royale 2 including Rutter Knows Best and Beans who were two of the favourites to win it. Eventually The Law went on to win it, but i think Neek comes away from the contest with the most new fans. It was truly impressive and deserves the OMG Moment of the Month.

 

The “Big Ups” Thread was starting to become quite an established thread on LA to recognise the efforts of others that were putting in work. That is until Ch3kkgame entered it, all we got was him complaining and saying all the stuff we have heard before “get on the mic this” and “get on the mic that”. Unnecessary and nobody has got the patience for that crap. That’s why April’s crybaby of the month is Ch3kkgame.

 

So April didn’t provide many new members that made an impact right away. In late March however a member by the name of Jet Swade joined, he made an immediate impact by challenging The Law to a No Holds Barred match, which The Law accepted. The battle happened and Swade lost by 3-0 KO. None the less it was a great way for a new member to announce their arrival to the site, lets hope that Jet Swade sticks around.

 

These guys really are something, this is the first time the LA moderating team have received an award for the work they put in. With new innovations and exciting new concepts being thought up by the week they are changing LA for the better, keep it up guys and let’s see if you can win the award for Moderating Team of the Month next month as well.

 

Kiki is somewhat of an LA fan favourite. Not many people will tell they hate Kiki as not many members do, if any. LA is a better place with Kiki Spirez around, let’s hope he stays and becomes the force he once was on the battle scene again.

 

I mean what in the hell was this? So there is a thread on the board where you have to say a movie title and suffix it with “in your ass”. Is this where we are LA? Really? Scotty32 took the time to visit said thread and even contribute. The site’s owner, everybody, loves games about movies in your ass.

 

Yes, Birds. “What is that?” I hear you ask. Well Birds is a thread created by Titu. It was a thread made to let the rest of LA know that he has birds, no not hot chicks (Neek, I see you thinking), but actual birds, the flying type. The only problem is that the LA community couldn't give a fuck about your birds, as it got no replies. Said thread can be seen here – http://www.lyricalassault.co.uk/forum/birds_topic42595.html

 

So a person with the username CUTTA, apparently makes beats. Who knew? Well a total of 17 people know! That’s how many people viewed his thread where he advertised his free beats. I won’t post said thread here, but it’s out there if you want to find it. Come on CUTTA let’s get those adverts a bit crisper and maybe you can start charging for your beats aye? Hmmm maybe not.

 

So Nick Genre joins the site and sets up a battle with someone called Dre Blac. “But Arthur, how is that misunderstanding the rules?” well let me tell you right now. Dre Blac is not a member of this site. No callout was made. Nick started the thread in the Battlefield and posted two links to soundcloud pages with two verses and expected the LA users to give feedback and pick a winner. Oh dear Nick. A simple visit to the rules page could have prevented such a terrible misunderstanding of the rules.

 

I mean wtf is that? If you want to write a diss to Lions Den then Open Mic is right there. What do you need to start a battle for? And also you put in brackets “topical” ffs, that’s hardly a topic is it. Stupid battle idea, nobody replied, go to open mic.

And that brings an end to proceedings. Join us again next month for another 10 awards, you may see some of the same awards appear and maybe some new ones too.
