LA Magazine: The June/July LA Alternative Awards

 

I’d just like to point out that I wasn’t part of the committee that Ok’d a BIG GAME return before any of y’all wanna bring shit to my pm box, just wanted to point that out. But anyway, he came back, Trizzy Tre’s only rival in the category of most annoying member from a moderators point of view (trust me, in the words of Kurt Angle… it’s true, it’s true). But as I said he came back and was only here to contribute to the site and take part in battles as well as vote… hmmm well I’m all on board for that, but I wondered how long it would all last, then I logged in again after a while and dude was banned, ahh well, it was very annoying while it lasted.

 

 

They’ve done it. They have nailed the Hat-trick. This is the third award in a row for the self-proclaimed amazing Lyrical Assault Moderating Team. Let’s hear it for these guys, Nigma! Neek! Endeavor! Cuba! The Law! Scotty32! And everybody’s favourite moderator, and mine, Arthur! Congratulations guys, you are setting a real example to the youth out there that are making life decisions about going to school, robbing 7/11’s or getting into moderating. Keep it up guys!

 

 

When it comes to writing the personal profile section of a CV most of us tend to stick to the formula of putting some of our interests and hobbies in there, you know things like travelling, socialising, film watching, book reading, game playing etc etc. But not this guy, no, Hi-Z gave this write up (with some grammar edits by yours truly):

Right. So. Yeah. Let me give you some personal history, I remember joining a hip hop site in around 2006, and people were discussing if Dr Dre was ever going to release Detox back then. Let’s go forward ten fucking years! And Just Belief, has taken to the General Board (it’s already retarded at that point) and asked this very question. The worst thing is that he finishes his question with “I could scour the internet”... Well you should have just done that, because nobody replied, because everyone has probably replied to this question too many times already. So a thread was made about Pokemon Go, I play it, it’s really fun for me as I was 10/11 when  Pokemon was huge and I loved the tv show and collected the cards. Lots of kids get great enjoyment from it as well and as Scotty pointed out surely it’s a good thing if it gets young people out and about instead of inside on computers eating shit all day. Well anyway, this is what a lot of people think…but not levy420, no, he took to this thread with this over the top opinion (and I quote):

Ok. So this thread popped up in late July. I mean when I read it I thought, erm has Cuba finally lost it? I rather nervously entered the thread thinking I’d be seeing some kind of ratemypoo.com style pictures (yes that site exists). But fortunately I did not see any of Cuba’s stools. Though even his description didn’t exactly make it much clearer…”someone posts a link to their drop & the next person drops a comment on the drop & posts their own link in return.” I mean the first person to post in that thread was well within their rights to post an image of their latest log and claim they misunderstood the concept. Ah yes, the old “my teacher gave it to me and said it was vitamins to make me stronger!” argument. The equivalent of Anderson Silva saying “my doctor gave it to me because I couldn’t fuck right!” or Justin Gatlin winning gold at Athens 2004, getting popped for PED’s and claiming “my doctor gave it to me because I’m Bipolar!” All of you can GTFO of here! Fuck You Guys I’m Gonna Do It Myself Thread of the Month: Sky Scrapur’s Sigs
Now you may remember from a previous edition, an award for the Most Ignored Cry for Help of the Month. It was given as he’d made a request for a sig to be made and a total of zero people responded. Well Sky Scrapur figured he’d start his own shit, that’s right, he didn’t let the man keep him down. When they tell you no, you do it yourself anyway! This motherfucker made his own thread in the graphics section called, you guessed it, “Sky Sig Collection”. I joke, but some of his work is decent, be sure to check them out and show some love for Sky Scrapur. So at the end of July Ridley Squat posts this thread – http://www.lyricalassault.co.uk/forum/coming-soon-the-la-crewsades_topic43415.html. Now this definitely has my attention and from the replies in the thread it has a lot of other people’s attention too. What is this going to be? When does it start? How is it going to work? Some questions that will soon be answered. Dope poster and it’s about time something creative was done with the crews. Props to Ridley Squat for getting some buzz going with this.

 

 

So yeah, this is me announcing that I won’t be battling any more. I will try and drop some votes every now and then to give some detailed feedback. Some of you will say it’s because I lost two title battles in the space of a week, hmm maybe that did sap a bit of my inspiration. But battling has felt like a chore for a long time now, I’m currently looking at hosting a Battle League with possibly about 10 participants. If enough people want to join it and commit to doing it then that could happen. It might be a pay to enter thing if people are interested in that, obviously the winner would receive the entry money as a prize, it’s not something I’m looking to make money out of lol. I’m enjoying the Senior Mod role that Cuba offered me and I think between him, The Law and me we’ve got some good stuff going on with the site. Also a big shout to Neek and Nigma for the work they’re putting in too. I see you too Endeeze. And not to mention Uncle Scotty, putting in that work behind the curtain.

 

 

So there you have it a folks. A 2 month edition. I think I’ll do this every 2 months going forward. I’d really like someone to do a special guest award every edition, I had nobody send me anything for these two months so that was kind of unfortunate, but if you see anything stupid or that needs addressing that I miss or you think I should give an award for, then let me know, even if you don’t want to do a write up for it, I’ll take care of that bit.
