Hip-Hop's golden age, was like a teen in apprehension
Leaving adolescence, experimenting with it's growing presence
In essence, this was a time of rap maturity
No longer left in obscurity, not seen for impurities
'Coz they'd been ironed out, and now it blossomed with futurity
And Run DMC was its first keeper, the genre's security
Shoveled up the music industry and built new foundations
For new generations, a street wave that was so groundbreaking
No longer would played rhymes and samey guys plague the lines that they fight
To hold the stand, founding themselves and this art at the same time
Rakim raised the platforms of combining rapping with a fine wit
KRS-One stood up on it, and became a rap activist in rhyming
But rap's mouth was still inherently positive with it's new gold ethnicity
With Nature's Tongue's groups spreading that Afrocentricity
A playful energy, relaxed tones, Hip-Hop seeked prominence
And the West Coast became commercially dominant, financially promising
And they'd show that wealth in a flow of talent, no cheap confidence
Turned an art to a business, they really seemed cognizant
Then the East Coast swerved to instill that street knowledge in
Gave that life some new respect, granted G's providence
That struggle, a hustle portrayed, like Nas and Biggie were competent
In expelling that it was just a dream that a hood guy could reach opulence
And to gel with other genres, production saw proper clarity
In sampling, rock 'n' jazz 'n' G-Funk, sustained in popularity
A fresh take on the old, and it was into the new fit
As technique stemmed from sound to thought and opened more lyrical movements
Complex systems of wordplay and rhyme strings, food for thought that'd fruit in the brain
Where words had lasting power which only riffs and melodies used to attain
Music was no longer just looked upon for performance
Not just for the ears 'n' eyes, but mind's drew importance
Sometimes to glorify the real life of the individual
Or spread awareness socially and be lyrically pivotal
To a social group, an area or race, it was critical
Sometimes negative, spreading messages not lit or cool
It could be controversial, cause scenes outside music that were visible/physical
But great or bad, Hip-Hop became a life that was conscious and political
It became the breath of a group, and became the life of those involved in it
People got bold with it, when there was an issue, it was solved with spits
Controlled or spiralled out of control, whether it was a social thing
Or a personal beef, where the upper hand could be gained if you could boast a diss
It was about personal light, and shining it bright to the world
At times, this turn in music could be a frightening hurl
Emotions, the gangsta life, violence, could be thrown in the mix
In an instant, rap gave music a physical form that before you wouldn't know could exist
And these movements, opened the doors for every average guy who's torn
To provide an insight to the life, Pac', Nas and the likes were born
Jay-Z could Blueprint his mottos, Em' could start an Infinite campaign
And now, the genre can't be held back, ideas won't be abstained
And even now, anyone has a chance to have fame
Spreading their message across in a mad wave
Even though you could say that now most abuse or waste it
There's no doubt, that opportunity they always use 'n' take it.

Ended up going topical when I wasn't supposed to, but guess I got carried away with the topic and forgot to scheme wordplay that references to the scheme given..

Anyway:::
